Earlier this month, the Jena Band of Choctaw Indians hosted a health fair for fellow tribal members, offering blood pressure and cholesterol screenings and pushing a little wellness education. The Nov. 10 event was part of the Live Lively LaSalle project, a series of healthy living initiatives funded in part through a $1 million grant from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation’s Challenge For a Healthier Louisiana program. LaSalle General Hospital staffers and local health care vendors provided services for attendees.
