(Baton Rouge, LA) — The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation has announced its annual funding schedule and invites Louisiana nonprofits to submit proposals for projects that improve the health and lives of Louisianians.
This year, the Foundation will make grant awards through four programs:
- New Horizons grants of up to $25,000 to support innovative approaches that solve or more effectively address issues related to health, education and well-being.
- Special Projects grants of up to $100,000 are one-time investments in growing successful programs and increasing impact.
- Collective Impact grants of up to $1 million fund grassroots coalitions working together to solve community issues in health, education and well-being over three years.
- Angels of Change grants of up to $250,000 fund collaborations between past honorees of The Angel Award and community partners who are working together to solve issues in health, education and well-being. See this video for more information about this new grant opportunity (1:41).
Deadlines for these programs are quarterly and require a Letter of Intent to apply. The deadlines for 2020 are March 1, June 1, Oct. 1 and Dec. 1.
According to Blue Cross Foundation President Michael Tipton, reaching more communities in Louisiana is a top priority this year.
“There are some regions of the state where we see that our grant programs are well-known and regularly see competitive proposals. But, we are always looking for locally led and thoughtfully designed efforts across all of Louisiana. In particular, we would like to see more proposals from South Louisiana, specifically Acadiana, the Lake Charles area and the Bayou Region, and from Northwest Louisiana,” he said.
