The last year has tested us in ways we could never have anticipated, but Louisiana’s nonprofits and other social good organizations have been the cornerstone of keeping our state going. They’ve kept people fed, sheltered and healthy when times were darkest.
In 2020, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and its Foundation invested more than $13 million in these organizations, and the tens of thousands of true hearts working tirelessly for people. In turn, their work impacted more than 6.4 million Louisianians with life-saving support in the midst of a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic and natural disasters like Hurricane Laura. We are humbled to have played a role, and grateful for the people on the front lines who made all the difference in the world for their families, neighbors and communities.
In 2020, we were honored to be selected again by the Points of Light Foundation as a member of The Civic 50. From hundreds of the nation’s largest companies, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana was chosen as one of America’s most civic-minded companies. But that honor doesn’t belong to us – it belongs to the tens of thousands of hearts and hands at work to make Louisiana an even greater place to live.
We are honored and humbled to be a part of and share the work of so many dedicated and selfless neighbors. Through this report, our hope is to win new allies for their work, and to inspire you to share this news with anyone you think can contribute in any way to the nonprofits celebrated here.
Sincerely,
Michael Tipton
