Marc Behar has been an advocate, supporter, fundraiser, volunteer and leader in the New Orleans LGTBQ+ community for decades. He is one of the founders of “Pride Prom” for LGBTQ high school-aged young people, which is presented annually for hundreds of LGBTQ young people at no cost. Even now, young people coming out means many more children rejected by families, leaving them in crisis and vulnerable to significantly worse outcomes than their peers. Projects like the Pride Prom provide them with a fun, safe and accepting space to gather and experience joy. The program also connects young people with counseling and community agencies that can help them find stable housing, food, healthcare, job training and more.
