Pamela lost her eyesight to cancer as a toddler. Throughout her life, she witnessed the low expectations and discrimination imposed on most people living without sight. But rather than break her, these hurdles shaped her and set the direction of her professional life.

During college, Pamela spent summers working at the Louisiana Center for the Blind.  She saw how teacher shortages, limited parent resources, and inadequate statewide knowledge on blindness education derailed the dreams of blind children and their families. Eager to make a difference, Pam moved from New York to Ruston to serve at the Center.

She became the executive director in 2001, and has created innovative programs in early intervention, youth empowerment, and parent outreach that have affected the lives of thousands living with blindness. Along with her team, Pamela works selflessly to create opportunity-rich futures for blind children in Louisiana by giving them the skills and confidence to do whatever they can dream.
