Yolanda is a registered nurse who has worked and volunteered in Title I elementary schools for the last 13 years. Currently, she is a nurse in a school-based health center at Linwood Public Charter School, where she works tirelessly to see to the health and quality of life of students – including clothing, food, housing, hygiene and dental care.

Yolanda is so much more than a nurse to students in her care, however. Children rely on Yolanda, and come to her for emotional support and guidance. She is known for planning and generating resources for programs that teach children in a way that’s relevant and meaningful – like the Babysitter Club, which teaches young people how to be responsible and safe caregivers, or Pink Parties, which teach breast health to young women.

Last school year, Yolanda’s clinic had nearly 2,000 patient visit. Children and their teachers love and rely on Yolanda’s loving care, dedication and expertise to keep students healthy and learning.
