How We Help

Louisiana Blue, which funds the Louisiana Blue Foundation, has a long history of investing in Louisiana’s health and wellness. In any given year, it sponsors hundreds of healthy living events – family fit days, races and walks, cooking demos and farmer’s markets – to keep people eating right and moving more.

In 2023, we invested $1.2 million in sponsorships and project funding with more than 250 partners statewide.

  • Corporate Sponsorships

    Up to $10,000

Louisiana Blue invests dollars to support nonprofit events and fundraisers, health and wellness programs and innovation. All of the company’s investments are fully tax-deductible and are made to improve the health and lives of Louisianans. We are proud to sponsor Louisiana organizations that improve quality of life in our state while improving awareness of the Louisiana Blue brand.

    Sponsorship Deadlines

Generally, we process sponsorship requests six months in advance. Use the table at the bottom of the page to determine the deadline by which you should apply.

  • Team Blue

    Hands-on Volunteers

Does your organization need volunteers? Call Team Blue!

In everything we do, Louisiana Blue strives to be a valuable resource in Louisiana communities. One way we do that is through Team Blue, teams dedicated employee volunteers who love giving back to Louisiana. If your organization needs volunteer support, Team Blue can lend a hand — actually, lots of hands.

  • Taproot Plus

    Pro Bono Professional Services

Louisiana Blue is partnering with Taproot Foundation to make virtual pro bono volunteering available to all Louisiana nonprofits and volunteers.

Nonprofits can build capacity by partnering with skilled volunteers from Louisiana and beyond for pro bono marketing, IT, HR, strategy, finance projects and more on Taproot Plus.

Volunteers can team up with nonprofits they care about and use their professional skills to make a difference — safely and remotely.

    • What is Taproot Plus? Louisiana Bluehas partnered with Taproot Foundation, a globally recognized leader in business pro bono, to provide our employees with access to Taproot Plus, an online platform that matches nonprofits in need of help with volunteers who have useful professional skills. Their team is on-hand to support your pro bono work through the platform every step of the way.
    • How is pro bono different from traditional volunteering? Traditional volunteering, such as a beach cleanup or serving at a soup kitchen, typically addresses the need for “extra hands” – a nonprofit needs people to help deliver a program. Pro bono service, however, uses specific professional skills to focus on addressing an organization’s internal strategic and infrastructure needs (often referred to as capacity building). For example, an HR professional could engage in traditional volunteer opportunity by planting a community garden, but could also provide pro bono professional services by helping an organization draft an employee handbook.
    • What types of volunteer opportunities can I access through Taproot Plus? Nonprofits and volunteers can connect for one-hour virtual consultation sessions where you’ll brainstorm together or do some quick problem-solving. They can also connect for pro bono project opportunities where volunteers work 2-10 weeks to help nonprofits tackle a larger-scale, discreet challenge. These projects can be anything from conducting a SWOT analysis, crafting a communications plan, or revamping financial forecasting models.

    PRO BONO DAY:

In late June, nearly 30 Blue Cross employees gathered at the Lod Cook Alumni Center in Baton Rouge for Team Blue Preaux Bono Day. Our employees volunteered their professional skills in teams for the benefit of six Louisiana nonprofits.

Our Community Relations team created Preaux Bono Day in partnership with the Taproot Foundation. We’ve worked with Taproot since 2020 to create opportunities for employees to engage in “skills-based volunteering.” This is an opportunity to flex business expertise to help community organizations solve specific challenges and complete projects in areas like marketing, IT, HR and more.

Pro bono volunteering gives nonprofits much-needed support to improve their business functions. Volunteers grow professionally by developing new skills, enhancing their teamwork and leadership abilities and expanding their professional network—while making a meaningful impact in their communities.
