Blue Cross Releases 2022 Community Partnerships Report

Insurer highlights work of employees and supported nonprofits

(Baton Rouge, LA) – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana has released its annual Community Partnerships Report, detailing the impact of its own charitable investments and those of its employees. Among the highlights:

  • 50,500+ volunteer hours by the company’s 3,000 employees. This number includes hands-on volunteerism at food packing parties, housing builds, and more. It also includes pro bono professional services in marketing, HR, IT, and more through the company’s partnership with Taproot Plus.
  • $3.3 million in charitable gifts made by the company and its employees to more than 170 in-state nonprofits, who provided more than 14 million services (health screenings, meals served, etc.) to Louisianians.
  • $5.5 million in grants made by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation, which invests in programs that improve health outcomes and the social determinants that affect them.
  • For the fourth year in a row, Blue Cross was named as one of The Civic 50, Points of Light’s list of the 50 most community-minded companies in America.

“We are deeply proud of our employees, who continue to prove their outstanding generosity at levels that rival some of the nation’s largest and most recognizable brands,” said Michael Tipton head of community relations and president of the Blue Cross Foundation.

“We also celebrate the hundreds of nonprofits across the state who work tirelessly to provide services and support the people in need. They were the bedrock upon which our state’s people relied during COVID and natural disasters, and they continue to be vital partners in our recovery and rebuilding,” he added.
