To be considered for any grant or sponsorship, your organization must:
Be designated a nonprofit organization by the IRS.
- Louisiana Blue and the Foundation only support nonprofit organizations for health- or education-related programs. Nonprofits must either have an IRS 501(c)(3) designation as defined in IRC 509(a)(1) and (2), or a private operating foundation as defined in IRC 4940(d)(2).
Be registered and in good standing with the Louisiana Secretary of State
- All organizations must be up-to-date on their filings with the Louisiana Secretary of State.

We do not make grants or sponsorships in support of any of the following:
- Business/Advertising sponsorships
- Support efforts to promote and enhance BCBSLA brands
- Providers on contract with BCBSLA for reimbursable services*
- Programs or events outside of Louisiana, except in the rare case where these have a specific benefit for Louisiana which must be clearly articulated
- Individuals
- Religious or sectarian programs for religious purposes
- Fraternal, labor, athletic, band, or similar organizations unless these organizations are doing work that otherwise qualifies for a grant and the organization is the most appropriate leader/fiduciary
- Political contributions
- Any purpose other than those outlined within this policy, which are authorized by IRC 170(c)(2)(B)
Note: The Foundation has frequently and will grant with providers on contract for community good and may grant to a provider on contract for a project of community good, assuming the services provided are not reimbursable or otherwise involved in the business/provider relationship
